The
Calendar has months which consist the days ranging from 2832. Days per month of a year are decided by an astrologers' committee in Nepal. So, fixed number of days per month is not a quality in the “Bikram Sambat”. One month could have 28 days whereas another month could have 32 days. English calender has months
which consist of 30 days and months which consist of 31 days in a normal year. There is also a difference in the date from which the two calendars were introduced. At any given time the Nepali calendar is ahead of the English calendar by 56 years 9 months and variable number of days depending on the days in that month. So directly converting between the two by addition and subtraction results in approximations that might cause problems sometimes.

Therefore, synchronizing dates of these two calenders is a difficult task for a Nepali since they follow both of the calenders. Normally, there is a high possibility that two particular dates chosen from the two calenders will not repeat in the following years.

The mismatch of the dates also causes another problem not only for the Nepalis, but also for foreigners who come to Nepal or businessmen who work internationally and etc. Most of these people, for their benefit, keep records of their appointments and other events on the Internet. It would not be much of a problem if they follow only one type of calender. But this would not help the above mentioned group of people since they would have to synchronize with both of the calenders. Therefore, the problem lies in the synchronization of their events and other necessary requirements in two different calenders at the same time.

Currently there are a few softwares available online as well as offline that convert dates between the two formats. Also there have been attempts to localize portions of mozilla songbird (a calendering application) to allow for easy date conversion. This is still an ongoing project as of today. People have created templates in google calendar that allow one to see both the calendars at once on the events page when using google calendar. The problem with the template is that it is not auto generated and someone will have to take the pain of doing the conversion for every year.

Nepali Calendar is available at http://www.aabishkar.com.np/calendar .

For feedback do "Post a Comment".

Best site to download Music And Movie.

Beemp3.com is a music search engine for locating an mp3-audio files over the Internet. Applications, movies, games, and music are examples of what can be downloaded/uploaded via torrents. First you need an application that manages them in order to establish a successful connection (think of BitTorrent, for example.)

1. Download BitTorrent.
BitTorrent are programs that are able to open .torrent files and use the instructions in the torrent files to locate the appropriate data and download it for other people using BitTorrent clients. You can download BitTorrent for http://www.bittorrent.com .

2. Download torrent file.
Once you install the bittorrent to your computer, you will need a place where you can find the torrents (or files) you want to download. I personally recommend following site where you can fine torrents files:-

http://thepiratebay.org

http://www.mininova.org

http://torrentz.com

3. Starting your downlaods.
Once you've obtained the torrent file from wherever, you simply need to import it into BitTorrent. There are several ways of doing this.

Click File then Add Torrent in BitTorrent (or press CTRL+O) and locate the torrent file.

Double-click the torrent file. (Only works if you've associated .torrent files with BitTorrent - BitTorrent asks you if it should do this the first time you run it. If you clicked 'No', you can do this by going to Options, then Preferences in BitTorrent, then clicking Associate with .torrent files under Windows Integration.)

(advanced) Click File then Add Torrent from URL in BitTorrent (or press CTRL+U), and enter a URL from which the .torrent file can be obtained.

What is Seeding? After a file has completed downloading, a BitTorrent client will continue to upload the file to other users who are running the same torrent unless the user cancels the torrent or shuts down the BitTorrent client, which is known as "seeding."

What is Leeches? Leeches are users who run torrent files and abort the torrent as soon as their download is complete to avoid seeding.

How to enter blocked sites?

I have listed five different ways to get access to the sites that has been blocked by the system administrator. If you kown any other way then do add it as na comment.

1. Proxy Server
Use a proxy server to access restricted sites. A proxy server (or proxies) is a normal computer that hides the identity of computers on its network from the
Internet. Which means that only the address of the proxy server is visible to the world and not of those computers that are using it to browse the Internet. Just visit the proxy server website with your Web browser and enter a URL (website address) in the form provided.
Furthermore I personally recommend the following proxy sites:

http://eideforex.tk
http://oldcampus.co.cc
http://www.actionall.info
http://buyerforex.co.cc
http://3rdgrade.co.cc

2. Proxy Search Softwares
Alternatively there are several softwares available for using proxies. Derek becomes more and more suspicious as the conversation progresses and ultimately realizes that the person he's talking to isn't his friend, and that the story he's being told is a lie.

Derek does a couple things to expose the scammer. First, he asks to talk to Jill over the phone before sending her the money. The scammer makes an excuse, but asks for Derek's number so that he can call him later. Of course, he doesn't intend to do this, since if he does, Derek will know that he's a fake.

The conversation continues, with the scammer explaining to Derek how to send money through Western Union's website. Still wary, Derek asks how he can be sure that he's talking to his friend. He starts testing the scammer with questions about his relationship with Jill. When the scammer provides the wrong answers, Derek knows for sure. There's no way this person can be his friend.

We encourage you to read the entire conversation so you know what to look for in case you ever find yourself in a similar situation. Remember to always keep in mind these important tips:

* Don't send money to someone without first talking to the person over the phone.

* Ask plenty of questions and confirm the story with mutual friends.

* If a scammer has gained access to your account or a friend's, report it to us immediately.

Jill: hi

Derek: morning...u in NYC?

Jill: am in London and am stranded here

Derek: why? Recently we have noticed an increase in scams where people's login information is collected through phishing sites and then their accounts are accessed without permission to ask friends for money. While the total number of people who have been impacted is small, we take any threat to security seriously and are redoubling our efforts to combat the scam.

In this attack, commonly known as a 419 scam, fraudulent individuals access Facebook accounts and pose as the account owner, claiming to be stranded in a foreign country without access to money. Once they've logged in, the scammers send Facebook Inbox and Chat messages and may even post status updates to the person's profile asking friends to send money, usually through Western Union, a money transfer service.

We've posted the full transcript of a real chat conversation between a Facebook user and a scammer to the Facebook Security Page, along with tips to avoid being scammed and instructions on how to report a compromised account. We've also worked with Western Union to help educate consumers about this scam. Western Union has posted a warning about the scam on their website, and they continue to educate their employees on this and other scams.

On the technical side, we have improved a number of our automated systems to better handle this unique class of scam and are taking efforts to ensure that we adapt our response to the scam as it changes. At the same time, our security team is working with law enforcement and collaborating with email providers and other industry experts to identify and catch the criminals responsible. Western Union also is working closely with law enforcement on scams such as this one.

While only a small number of people have experienced this type of scam on Facebook, we are committed to constantly improving our systems and implementing additional measures to better respond. We need your help too. Educate yourself on this scam and others by becoming a fan of the Facebook Security Page, and report any suspicious activity you see using the report links on the site and the contact forms in our Help Center.

Alok, a software engineer on the site integrity team, builds systems to protect you and fight crime.

Source: http://blog.facebook.com/blog.php?post=142604447130

Cyber Security Is a Shared Responsibility.

Michael Kaiser is the executive director of the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA), a U.S.-focused nonprofit organization that works to keep people secure online. The organization focuses its efforts on cyber security education to provide information and tools for people to take control over preventing cyber crimes and attacks. As October and National Cyber Security Awareness month come to a close, we asked Michael to share his thoughts on precautions people should take online.

Many people believe they know their way around the digital world as well as or better than the physical world. Everything from paying bills to phone calls to distant relatives can now be done online. People store some of their most important documents, photos and financial information electronically — and seem to be more organized than ever. Yet while people may be cyber savvy and on the cutting edge of digital culture, they may not be cyber secure.

It turns out that we are only as protected as the weakest link in our network, so if you don't take precautions, you're not just endangering yourself. You also are impacting your friends and family. For instance, a "cyber criminal" can leave his entire network at risk by using an easily guessed password like the word "password" for his email account. This innocent person inadvertently becomes an enabler of cybercrime by not being cautious.

With a growing number of people online for a significant portion of every day, it's not surprising that more people are particularly visible and vulnerable targets of cyber criminals. Often, a healthy dose of common sense and knowledge about threats are the first step. Keep these 10 tips in mind as you get on the path to becoming cyber savvy.

1. Protect your personal information. Know who is going to see it and understand the value of it and why the other party needs it before you share.
2. Create complex and lengthy passwords that include letters, numbers and symbols. Be sure to change them often, and keep in mind "password1" doesn't make the cut.
3. Don't use public networks to conduct private business.
4. Set your security software, operating system and browser to update automatically.
5. Conduct transactions only on secure sites. Look for "shttp" or "https" in the URL.
6. Use privacy, safety and other settings on social networks.
7. Understand threats and learn more at the NCSA website and the Facebook Security Page.
8. Back up important information regularly to keep your music, photos and work protected.
9. Physically protect your computer, too. If you wouldn't leave your credit card unattended in a public location, you shouldn't leave your computer either.
10. Report cyber crimes.

Remember it is our shared responsibility to stay cyber secure. Keep updated on how you can help yourself, your friends and family by becoming a fan of the Facebook Security Page and the National Cyber Security Alliance Page.

Michael hopes you'll check out the NCSA cyberskits to learn the do's and don'ts of cyber security.

source:- http://blog.facebook.com/blog.php?post=168259887130

Cyberweapons: we may have them, but we shouldn't use them

The scope of the report was largely limited to offensive measures, as security and defensive measures have received widespread attention and should be default behavior, rather than require a policy for deployment. The authors also don't spend a lot of time evaluating the current state of the art in cyberwarfare, as the capabilities of the military and espionage communities are classified, and it's a quickly-moving target anyway. The authors work under the assumption that "they are at least as powerful as those demonstrated by the most sophisticated cyberattacks perpetrated by cybercriminals and are likely more powerful."

So, the US has the tools; how should it decide when to deploy them? The report's authors lay out a few principles that should help guide any policy on the matter. One is that, although our capabilities may be good, they're not likely to be that much better than the rest of the world's: "enduring unilateral dominance in cyberspace is neither realistic nor achievable by the United States." Since the US economy is heavily dependent upon information exchange, it's got a lot to lose if cyberwarfare capacity and use proliferate, so it has a vested interest in limiting its use. Given the nation's central role in international finance, there's also a very real risk of what the report terms "blowback"—the US deploys offensive cyberweapons, only to harm its national interests in the process.

Finally, cyberwarfare won't be like traditional warfare. It's relatively easy for non-state actors to engage in asymmetric, disruptive activity, and states that engage in a cyberattack will find it easy to use misdirection to hide their tracks and/or shift the blame to other nations or non-state groups. As such, the US' traditional means of deterrence, a "threat in-kind response," simply won't work. Even identifying a threat can be a challenge, as the authors note, asking, "given that any large nation experiences cyberattacks continuously, how will the United States know it is the subject of a cyberattack deliberately launched by an adversary government?"

For all of these reasons, the authors conclude, it's imperative that the US not only think carefully about engaging in an offensive use of its capabilities, but work within the international community to discourage the use of cyberwarfare generally. And that will be a real challenge, given that the relatively low cost of virtual weapons, meaning that the temptation to use them will be high.

National Cyber Security Awareness Month is over and what a month it was !

Thirty-one days has October and every one was put to good use this year during National Cyber Security Awareness Month. It was far and away the best one ever. It will take a while to compile all the results but we do know the hits to our website at least tripled and that organizations and companies endorsing the month also tripled.

We had some firsts as well. President Obama made a video on the importance of awareness. Both the House and the Senate passed resolutions supporting the month. Homeland Security Secretary Napolitano, Deputy Secretary of Defense William J. Lynn III, and White House National Security Staff Acting Senior Director for Cybersecurity Chris Painter andothers helped launch the month at an event on October 1.

What really made the month work were how many other companies, government entities, schools and colleges, and nonprofit groups got involved in awareness. We have heard about great events and coordinated efforts across the country. So many great people did so much great work we will be writing thank you notes till New Years. Everyone took the month’s theme—Our Shared Responsibility—to heart.

In the weeks ahead we hope to report some of the great examples of awareness activities that took place as a way of getting everybody thinking—that’s right it’s not to early—about next year.

Cybersecurity requires our vigilance 365 days year. So the work continues.

You have the thanks of the staff and Board of NCSA for everything you have done. We look forward to ongoing collaboration to secure the Nations cyber assets .

SSO (stay safe online)

Michael

Source:- http://www.staysafeonline.org/blog/national-cyber-security-awareness-month-over-and-what-a-month-it-was

Think Before You Post on Social Networking Sites

Social networking sites allow you to express yourself and keep in touch with friends by exchanging messages or comments and posting personal profiles describing who you are and your interests, blogs or online diaries, photos, creative writing, artwork, videos, and music. Instant Messaging (IM) and sharing online profiles are popular forms of social networking.

If practiced safely, there can be many positive aspects of social networking. You can connect with friends and seek like-minded individuals. However, you should understand how posting too much information on your profile and communicating with people you’ve only met online can put you in potential danger.

Some sites and services ask you to post a “profile” with your age, sex, hobbies, and interests. While these profiles help you connect and share common interests, potential exploiters can and do use these profiles to search for victims.

Users may pose as someone else — a different person or a person of a different age — without others knowing. Such users have taken advantage of this and this aspect of social-networking profiles to entice or sexually exploit teens.

You can’t “take back” the online text and images you’ve entered. Once online, “chat” as well as other web postings become public information. Many web sites are “cached” by search engines, and photos and text can be retrieved long after the site has been deleted.

Teens have been punished by their families; denied entry into schools; and even not hired because of dangerous, demeaning, or harmful information found on their personal sites or blogs.

feedback
